extraordinary attorney woo (netflix)
like SQUID GAMES before it, NETFLIX’s new number-one global comedy hails from South Korea, featuring a rising young attorney with autism. at first, the performance of star park eun-bin feels slightly cringey, but grew on me as more beguiling and charming by episode. it's sparking convos about wider acceptance of neurodiversity in the country – and hopefully, the world.

los espookys (hbo)
i love julio torres (if you haven't seen his 2019 special MY FAVORITE SHAPES, i highly recommend) and so, having missed season 1 of this bilingual quirky show, i caught the first episode of season 2. the horror aesthetics mixed with idiosyncratic comedy make for an innovative and enjoyable mix.

the castle on sunset: life, death, love, art and scandal at hollywood’s chateau marmont (penguin random house)
while this book details the expected famous names and faces that graced the CHATEAU MARMONT over the decades, i really enjoyed shawn levy's chronology of the business behind the fabled hollywood hang. thanks to tricia melton for sharing this with me, it inspired me to rewatch SOMEWHERE (directed by sofia coppola), in which stephen dorff and elle fanning swan around in the legendary penthouse and poolside.

invisibilia (apple podcasts)
the new season of my favorite inner psyche show has dropped, focusing on the theme of power. the first episode covered a comic who struggles to embrace power getting coached by a dominatrix. can't wait to see where the rest of the season takes us!

angel from montgomery (bonnie raitt / john prine)
this weekend i saw one of my favorite singers at one of my favorite venues - blues goddess bonnie raitt at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park. under the new moon i listened to her vocals that cut straight to my soul - a mix of country, folk, rock, and 80s pop that reduces me to tears with the stories it paints. her voice sounded just as brilliant as ever, crisp and melty all at once. while her hits are too many to count (if there's a better heartbreak song than "i can't make you love me" i have yet to find it), her rendition of "angel from montgomery" struck a chord, as she dedicated the song to its writer, john prine, who died of COVID during the pandemic.

the ledge (audible)
on a long motorcycle ride back from Colorado, i listened to jim davidson’s harrowing tale of a climb gone wrong on Mt. Rainier. it made the miles go by fast, and i loved hearing more details about climbing as a bonus.

#LOokforward🌅 with linda ong
one of the great pleasures in my career is the number of clients i've met who've become dear friends. it was great to catch up with former CBS exec aaron meyerson, now a partner at QUALIA LEGACY ADVISORS, and chat about the state of the investment market in the entertainment industry.
as a young woman's tragic death in custody unleashed global protests against iran's restrictive "morality police," it's interesting to contrast how sinéad o'connor's activism led to exile. the new doc NOTHING COMPARES (SHOWTIME) chronicles her attempts to out the irish catholic church's abuse of women, and the ensuing backlash after her 1992 legendary SNL appearance.
