field trip (washington post audio)
i listed to this national park-centric podcast's glacier national park episode in preparation for going there last weekend. it shares the incredible splendor of the park, alongside stories from the perspective of the blackfeet people, who've had to fight for the ability to tell their story inside its borders.

they cloned tyrone (netflix)
trippy, must-see genre blend with a delicious jamie foxx

pageboy (elliot page / audible)
elliot page narrates his journey from gender dysphoria to self-acceptance in this listen. the non-linear structure mixes family, romance, and career -- but more than anything i found it to be a series of vibes, almost a dynamic mood board of sorts, amplified by hearing the story as read by elliot.

special ops: lioness (paramount+)
taylor sheridan's troubled female spies in action.

endurance: shackleton’s incredible voyage (alfred lansing / audible)
as i rode two-up through montana, the canadian rockies, and idaho last week, it was stunning and at times, it was very rainy and windy. but that paled in comparison to the harrowing tale i was listening to on my airpods: the story of ernest shackleton and team, who lasted countless frigid, wet nights in the arctic in 1915! this audio rendition of the 1959 book was so compelling, with such a perfect narrator - it may have been my favorite audiobook of this year.

i've made a donation to #chefsforhawaii through WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN, which i'm hoping helps the community rise from the ashes. luckily there are numerous organizations channeling aid to the island, posted above, in case you're looking to pitch in.
viewers are (re)discovering old favorites – more people are consuming classic canon like THE SOPRANOS, GREY'S ANATOMY and even SUITS (thanks maybe to the meghan markle effect). trending amidst the hollywood labor strikes and cries of "franchise fatigue," when will original content be a thing again?
on august 11, 1973, DJ kool herc played a house party in the bronx with two turntables, and global genre was born. last year, we got an early look at HIP HOP 50 – the 50th anniversary commemoration – working on related projects with AUDIBLE and SHOWTIME. it's exciting to see tons of content, artists, venues, and even libraries open the celebration for every generation.
