pamela, a love story (netflix)
i was very intrigued by pamela anderson as a kid - she aesthetically imprinted in my mind, an image of femininity and fun. highly recommend this documentary (her son, brandon thomas lee, serves as a producer) which features pamela in her coastal canadian hometown and witty as ever. the doc is notably not hagiography, but instead shows pamela still figuring herself out - both empowering and endearing as she reflects on trauma and love.

nanny (amazon prime)
i was captivated by this upscale horror story by senegalese writer/director nikyatu jusu (and backed by BLUMHOUSE). when wealthy new yorkers hire an immigrant nanny to care for their young daughter, a culture clash moves in as well. a tale of loss, longing, and the meaning of family becomes an emotional fright fest for aisha (anna diop).

extraordinary (hulu)
recommended by my dad, this british show stars a women who notably does NOT have powers, in a world where everyone else does. what makes the series so well-done is the hilariously relatable human emotions set in a slightly altered world. a more down-to-earth Harry Potter, if you will!

white lotus remix (edm.com)
what is the sound of white privilege? now you can dance to the HBO show's theme song, as EDM.com has curated 5 of the best remixes. electronic artists SHOUSE, WESTEND, FLUX PAVILLION, WILL SASS and ENAMOUR bring a techno vibe to composer cristobal tapia de veer's enigmatic earworm.

the watch (the ringer): casey bloys
the HBO/HBO MAX honcho casey bloys unpacks his go-forward strategy and talks THE LAST OF US with andy and chris - a must-listen for industry nerds like me!

door (caroline polacheck)
not a new song, but one that speaks to the mid-winter ethereal blues, i recently have been listening to a lot of caroline polachek. i love a creative synth-laden female vocalist (hello, GRIMES!) and caroline's creativity does not disappoint. i'll stay tuned for her new album out Feb 14, but DOOR is my current go-to tune.

i can’t shut up about -ussy
no one can argue that bussy put -ussy on the linguistic map but oh, the controversy it sparked when talk of adding it to the dictionary officialussy…we tried.

#LOokforward🌅 with linda ong
for this week’s look forward linda ong shared what’s trending from ai to etiquette.
i'm spending more time in the company of people i really vibe with this year. over yummy osso bucco, Joanna Coles and i had a great debate on the potential wonders (her) and terrors (me) of #ai – like oh, plagiarism and IP theft. what did we agree on? like all revolutionary tech, it's all up to the intentions of the users.
beauty trends fueled a ton of e-consumption. building on EUPHORIA's next-level glam, is CIRQUE DU SOLEIL inspiring #CIRQUEcore? (props to our partner nickole tara).
creators: turn the post-pandemic demand for etiquette into great content, and maybe folks will get the hint. i've always been impressed by the innate politeness and respect of asian, latin and european cultures.
